SUSTAINABILITY

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OBJECTIVES

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart, are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries in a global partnership.

In Odfjell Terminals South America (OTSA), we decided to integrate internationally recognized Environmental, Social and Governmental (ESG) principles to our activities, and we chose 7 SDGs that are the most relevant to our business and through which we believe we can have the greatest positive impact.

As part of this new commitment, we are setting new goals, defining specific KPIs to assess our performance accurately and developing policies and standards based on internationally recognized Environmental, Social and Governmental (ESG) principles to our activities. We also consolidated the initiatives carried out in each of our terminals so far in a first Sustainable Report.

SAFE OPERATION

Our sustained efforts to improve safety allowed us to internalize a solid safety culture, a way of thinking and behaving in a safe manner at all times. With the highest standards, policies and programs, we take care of our staff members, the environment and our facilities. We also try hard to spread this culture among contractors and suppliers.

Our main focus is incident prevention; however, we are prepared to respond effectively in case something does not go as planned. We develop emergency drills and exercises to train our staff in different types of scenarios along with Port Authority, firefighters, civil defense and neighbor companies.

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

We work with environmental consciousness. We manage our operations through Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety management systems certified under international ISO.

We have developed programs to continuously optimize water, electricity and gas consumption and to minimize waste generation, segregating and recycling when possible.

RESPONSIBLE CARE

RIO GRANDE

Aiming to continuously improve our performance in matters of Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Sustainability, Granel Química assumed the commitment to also develop its activities, based on the Responsible Care Program of ABIQUIM (Brazilian Association of Chemical Industry) and thus certify our terminals.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

We are also committed with social responsibility and, therefore, we sponsor projects, such as Rede Cultural Beija-Flor, a non-profit organization that works with children and teenagers of communities in situations of social vulnerability.
